It would seem that the incident of Roosevelt and the bear sparked a new trend within toy makers, one such person was Morris Michtom, who on seeing one of the cartoons made a stuffed bear, displayed it in his window with the name, ‘Teddy’s Bear’ attached to it.  He sent Roosevelt the very first personalised bear asking for permission to use his name and cuddly bears as we know them were born.

Shipwrecked Bears

Steiff, another soft toy company in Germany also had the great idea of producing personalised teddy bears spontaneously without the knowledge of the American bear as transatlantic communication had not yet been developed. There are stories of Steiff having imported bears to America before Michtom invented his bear but there has been no evidence of the bears to be found, leading to speculation that the bears either were not robust enough to survive to the present day or indeed more excitingly the bears were shipwrecked on their way to America.

Since then Prada has successfully opened dozens of boutiques in various cities worldwide.

Miuccia used many fabrics to make fashion accessories in the entire Prada range. My experience down under: a personal journey through Australia

I’d always wanted to go to Australia. I’d heard so much about the beautiful beaches, friendly people and gorgeous-looking men, so when a friend suggested we spend our Spring break there, I jumped at the chance. Though the plane ride was exhausting, and though I returned home sunburned and with aching muscles, I can say without a doubt that my experience in the land Down Under is one I will never, ever forget.

Arrival in Sydney

Touching down in Sydney after a 15-hour flight was a complete whirlwind. But the moment we landed and exited into the terminal I knew we were in for a real treat. The staff at the airport were so welcoming and friendly, and they seemed genuinely happy to have us as visitors.

We immediately hopped on the bus and headed to our hostel. We stayed in a great place just off King Street, right in the heart of the city. After a nap, we headed out to the nearest pub to have a pint of Foster’s and meet the locals. We spent the next few days wandering around the city, visiting the incredible Sydney Opera House, going shopping, and relaxing at the beach.
Festivals and fun stuff

After a magical few days in Sydney, we headed down to Melbourne to meet up with some other friends who had been traveling. We hadn’t realized it, but we were in town for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, one of the biggest comedy festivals in the world.

During the day, we shopped, explored the alleyways, drank coffee, and hung out in the Botanical Gardens. At night, we saw hilarious comedy shows and then hit the bars to mingle with comedians and audiences alike. Melbourne really seemed to come alive during festival time – it was a terrific time to be there.

Wild Wild West

We journeyed to Western Australia, home of beautiful natural resources and…lots of desert. But we had a wonderful time meeting the locals, and felt really well taken care of. Perth is such a wonderful, friendly city!

Coming home

I had such an amazing time in Australia that I never wanted to leave – especially after meeting somebody. We are going to keep in touch through Skype and see where it could go – he even said he could visit in a couple of months! Now that the jetlag and the exhaustion have passed, I’m able to reminisce about the amazing people I met and things I experienced Down Under. I can’t wait to go back!

For those who prefer silence and solitude, I suggest parts of the Park that are not crowded, like, for example, southernmost area, which is an area including many fine high mountain peaks. In Snowdonia National Park, you will also encounter many places from where you can admire the views on The Irish Sea. The views are spectacular, and I am sure that they will remain in your memory for many years to come.
