The History Of Prada Handbags

Prada handbags are masterpieces; they make a fashion statement with a touch of elegance. Most people believe that Prada Handbags are the best handbags around. Mario Prada first established Prada in 1913 in Italy.

This company started designing leather handbags from two boutiques in Milan, way before Prada became a global brand. Very soon this changed, because this company successfully captured the attraction of all the people in Europe and America.

After Mario passed away, his son had no interest in running the company, so, it was inherited by his daughter-in-law and was maintained by her for the next 20 years. In 1978, her daughter Miuccia Prada took over the company. Miuccia had a PhD in political science. At that time, the label had been struggling financially because of competition from other brands such as Gucci.

Miuccia had experience in making bags. She met Patrizio Berteli who gave her valuable advises in running the company. As she went about enhancing the label into what it is today, she released the classic Prada handbag in 1985 and it became an overnight success. So, Prada continued with its collection making elegant, simple, luxurious handbags.

The fashion world took notice of that and Prada’s popularity kept increasing. Within just two years, Miuccia won two prestigious fashion awards. In 1993 she received an international award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America and again in 1985, she won the ‘Designer of the Year Award’. Since then Prada has successfully opened dozens of boutiques in various cities worldwide.

Miuccia used many fabrics to make fashion accessories in the entire Prada range. A typical Prada handbag is usually made of leather, deerskin, calfskin, fox fur etc. The Prada designer handbags come in a wide range of signature colours ranging from champagne, camel, black, natural canvas and obviously white. Today, Prada handbags are very functional and usually come with an assortment of extra features that enables you to carry your necessities.
