3 Things to Consider as You Reach Older Age
Growing old can be something you dread or something to look forward to. If you want to be able to enjoy your later years, make sure you set yourself up to succeed by being prepared. Here are three things to consider as you reach an older age.
1. Be Aware of Accessibility
When buying your retirement home make sure to take special note to see if remodeling for handicapped accessibility will be possible if you or your spouse were to be in a wheelchair. If your plan is to grow old together and make memories the last thing you want to do in the middle of it is move. Have a plan for what you will want to do so you can live there as long and independently as you possible.
2. Make Decisions in Advance
One of the hardest things a family has to go through is the death of a loved one. The family should be able to mourn instead of plan a funeral. Although not fun to think about when you are feeling healthy and alive, it will be the last thing you want to think about if you aren’t feeling well. This saves the heartache and stress of trying to make big decisions during a difficult time.
3. Keep Notes
It might seem obvious to you about how to log in to pay the cell phone bill or how to start the lawnmower but it may not be common knowledge to your partner. Take notice of all of the things you do each day that someone else would have to do if you were unable to do it. Write down all the info that may be needed and don’t forget to tell your partner where to find your notes!
Being prepared for all of the what-ifs of old age can help you live your life to the fullest without worry.
