Feng Shui in Your Bedroom

Whether you believe in feng shui or not, there are certain things that can make your bedroom more enjoyable for you. After all, this is where you come every night to get a good night’s sleep, and the quality of your sleep determines the overall quality of your life. Fortunately, you don’t have to feel helpless about it as there are many things you can do to make your sacred bedroom a better place to be:

1. Keep it bright. An ideal bedroom is a bedroom that has a lot of white, cream, yellow, or egg-shell white. Don’t introduce too much red as it is proven that the color red can make you angry or stimulated and can affect the way you sleep. Opt for as many pillows and other plushies as possible to create the feeling of comfort and relaxation.

2. Declutter and tidy up regularly. Only because your bedroom is located upstairs does not have to mean that you don’t have to clean it regularly. By cleaning I not only mean the removal of dust, but also something probably more important like removing from there all the unnecessary items. If you lack that extra space in your home, you might want to consider some storage units near me to take care of that for you.

3. Don’t bring any electronics to your bedroom, leave everything at your doorstep. It is proven that most electronics such as laptops, smartphones, or TVs emit a lot of light that can affect the production of melatonin in your brain. It is best to spend your time without any electronics at least 30 minutes before bedtime (ideally at least 1 hour). I know that it might be easier said than done, but it is definitely something worth looking into.

4. Keep it cool and open your windows often to get some fresh air. It might sound counteintuitive, but your body might actually prefer to sleep in a colder than a warmer room.
