Bulimia is a fairly common eating disorder. It affects many people. Unfortunately, the effects of this disorder can be life-threatening. This disorder is characterized by feelings of being overweight, even though the sufferer isn’t. As a result, those that suffer from this disorder attempt to throw up or use other extreme measures to purge their bodies of food after they have eaten.

The Mechanics
People who suffer from this disorder often use extreme measures to rid their bodies of the food they have eaten, by throwing up, taking, diuretics, or extreme exercising. The end result is a severely unhealthy person who is usually extremely frail and thin. A person who has Bulimia is usually consumed with their weight and not much else. They may not be concerned about the hvac jobs in hampton roads, even though they may need one. Their feelings regarding their weight consume most of their thoughts

Causes
Research has not linked Bulimia to any one specific cause. However, there are theories. Bulimia is thought to be possibly passed down as a genetic disposition, as well as one brought on by trauma, abuse, low self-esteem, and environmental and cultural factors. These patterns have been commonly linked to those who suffer from this disorder. Bulimia is considered a behavioral disorder. The causes are believed to be deeply rooted in behavioral traumas and cultural influences.

What To Look For
Bulimic individuals often show physical signs of their disorder. Their weight often fluctuates, and they tend to have enlarged glands under their throat and neck from purging. Their eyes are usually bloodshot and they tend to have an irregular heartbeat. The behavior of a bulimic person is often pronounced as well. They may hide food, throw up after a meal, or binge eat. In fact, the interior of their mouth is often raw and sore from the stomach acids present in their vomit. The symptoms are wide and varied and can manifest themselves at any time.

Bulimia is believed to be a behavioral disorder. As a result, the treatment is approached from a behavioral perspective. Counseling and other forms of therapy are often recommended. However, it should be noted that every situation is different. The treatment is usually individualized to fit the specific needs of the person.
